Angela Fiscina

Audiology Extern

Angela Fiscina is a doctoral resident from Nova Southeastern University. She’s a firm believer in best-practice guidelines and equal care for all of her patients.

While earning her undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida, she thought she wanted to go into optometry until her father was diagnosed with hearing loss and began wearing hearing aids himself. Dissatisfied with the sound quality, he never liked to wear them, and she wanted to understand why and how she could make them better. This led her to her Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Humanities.

Angela has worked with all ages from newborns and children at Niklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami on their Craniofacial Clinic team, to adults and geriatrics in private practice and ENT. She’s also worked in the school system performing screenings and has worked with veterans for compensation evaluations. If someone in the office has misplaced something, she’s likely the one who organized it away. She is a Android pairing guru for Bluetooth devices.

In her free time, Angela loves stories in the forms of movies, television, and even writing her own books.

In Her Own Words

"I don't think you have to have hearing loss in order to be a good audiologist, but I would say I am a better audiologist because of it. I have a true empathy and understanding of what my patients are going through because I have been in their shoes.

"My hearing loss allows me to connect with my patients on a personal level, in a way that schools cannot teach. I love giving parents of children with hearing loss hope that their child can live a fulfilled and happy life."
